Bricks from Waste
What we offer:
Ecoedlin owns an exclusive license which allow to produce bricks, with technical characteristic tested in laboratory, from liquid and solid waste, through a chemical cold processor .
This technology allows the transformation of solid urban refuse and waste water sludge through a cold process by means of an exclusive chemical, using a polymeric additive plus a specific catalyst. Bricks are rendered completely inert with the highest physical mechanical resistance rating free of micro bacterial agents and heavy metals. The principal technical characteristic is a specific weight which varies from 1,200 to 1,500 g/cm3. It is much lighter than many building materials and inert aggregates for concrete. This characteristic opens many possibilities for different technical applications:
•Regarding the material’s resistance to simple compression, it can be used, not just for secondary works such as enclosure walls, prefabricated materials for bus shelters, agricultural and farming walls, but a sample produces neither organic release, nor “spores”, the material can be used in masonry for civil construction, especially with natural stone as tuff. In fact tuff gives off “Radon” in certain quantities, so we cannot rule out its carcinogenic implications. This is not a problem in our latitude because climatic conditions allow abundant ventilation, but in countries in northern Europe this has presented some difficulties.
•In case of fire, we categorically state that toxic fumes are not given off by our product.
•We have gotten good results for the material, whether using tests for moving contact friction or for gelativity, showing that it can be used in private or public external paving, especially in countries where variation in daily temperature is particularly evident.
•The material can be used for urban furniture for city parks and gardens, with benches of various types, tables, fencing pieces, tool boxes, etc.
•The impermeability of the product allows its use in construction of industrial and agricultural reservoirs for collection traps, water piping for rain and untreated water, art works, and, where necessary, for plant waterworks.
•Under load conditions the flectional distortion is noticeably present. That means that it can be used for highway barriers able to transform eventual impact energy in deformation energy, so that the barrier would share this flexional characteristic of the material.
•The quality of our product is comparable to that of concrete, but with a much lower specific weight. It can be cut, ground or be produced directly in granules of various sizes adapted to get the curvature optimal for concrete. An optimal concrete can also be obtained by mixing the product with cement and water. The lightness of the product enables its application in more works than the ones we can mention in this description.
•We should note the results of the flexion test done on the basis of a joist done with our material and reinforced by a bar of stainless steel of improved adherence but absolutely without cement. The breaking point resulted in a higher value than an ordinary pre-compressed joist.
•In compression tests the samples reached the highest mechanical characteristics, whether from the qualitative or quantitative point of view. In fact tension breakpoint with simple compression values oscillates around an average of 610 Kg//cm2, an acceptable limit dealing with whatever material you wish to take into consideration. Moreover, fracture undergone by cubes exposed to grinding, occurs always according their own diagonal lines, as indicated by construction science.
•Perhaps the hardest comparison to do concerns concrete. Our material resulted in class 350 Kg/cm2; its resistance to flexion has obtained a value of 28 kg/cm2 very close to the 39 kg/cm2 of concrete of a higher class (550 Kg/cm2). Another report on the transformed product is that of Gelativity, which is without any influence on our material.
•We have to point out a high level of flexibility, with falling indicators sufficiently noted, permitting a breaking point (by flexion) of the greatest level that occurs without cracks or previous notice. The elevated distortion level gives a sufficiently low elasticity value, but with an absolutely linear and bilateral curve.
•Instead, thermal conductivity is greater that that of concrete by 10%, a negligible margin, considering that the material is compacted with manual vibration, and gaps so were not perfectly filled. The mentioned problem is eliminated by use of vibrator plates and machinery. In this way the percentage of thermal conduction can be reduced to the level of concrete.
