PhloCO2 - The Embodied & Life-Cycle Carbon Assessment tool
What we offer:
Phlorum, in association with the University of Brighton, have developed a software tool that predicts the life-cycle carbon emissions of new-build dwellings.
This includes assessment of emissions from construction (including embodied carbon of materials and transportation), in operation (using SAP methodology) and in decommission.
Importantly, the tool is used at the design stage to minimise emissions, rather then retrospective assessment. The model suggests methods to achieve carbon minimisation, and crucially, quantifies the carbon savings.
The model is aimed at architects and developers who are able to then see the environmental implications of their specification. With 2016 'zero-carbon' targets looming, life-cycle assessment is becoming more and more important.
What we are looking for:
We are looking to partner with a large house-builder or architect that will be able to assess the software in its current form, and financially assist the development of a more robust and all-encompassing tool to market to a wider audience.
